持续改进的承诺

评估 is a collaborative 过程 through which we devise means to understand and then to improve student learning and achieve other program/unit objectives. Because 电子游戏试玩 recognizes that learning occurs throughout the curriculum and co-curriculum, 它建立了一个 评估委员会 comprising representatives from each vice-presidential area. The Council conducts its activities in recognition of the faculty responsibility for student learning and in a context of shared governance. 在ISU, the purposes of assessment include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • To increase student achievement in both curricular and co-curricular areas.

  • To focus the institutional mission on the level and quality of student achievement.
  • To improve instruction, curriculum, and other teaching‐related activities.
  • To improve service, effectiveness, and other operational activities.

  • To improve programs, program planning, and development.
  • To facilitate articulation of the University’s core learning outcomes.

ISU is committed to realizing a culture of assessment that includes:

  • 一个统一的, 连贯的, and systematic program that includes clearly defined objectives and outcomes developed by the faculty and 工作人员 and is consistent with the institutional mission.
  • A recognition that responsibility for the development of assessment procedures, 方法, and intervention/alterations based on 结果 is held by the faculty and 工作人员 of ISU and should be consistent with and complementary to broader institutional efforts.
  • A recognition that assessment is intended to assess student learning, not individual faculty and 工作人员 performance.
  • An emphasis on continuous improvement through a 过程 of gathering, interpreting and using information to improve student achievement 支持服务.

评估 of 基金会al Studies (General Education)

在ISU, responsibility for the assessment and improvement of 基金会al Studies (our general education curriculum) rests with the 大学学院 Council. 基金会al Studies conducts assessment with at least three purposes in mind: 1) to determine whether 学生 are achieving the educational goals of the program, 2) to improve instruction and to increase student academic achievement through a 过程 of systematic feedback to faculty, 学术项目, 还有政府, and 3) to regularly review courses for inclusion in the 基金会al Studies program. 

The 大学学院 Council takes a three-pronged approach to achieving these goals that includes: 1) a regular cycle of learning outcomes assessment, 2) review of student self-reports of learning in every course, and 3) data analytics related to measures of student success.

The College of 研究生及电子游戏试玩学习 and the 研究生 Council have recognized a core set of five student learning outcomes required of all graduate programs (See application-pdf.png Assurance of Student Learning – 研究生 Education at 电子游戏试玩). The stated purpose of that initiative (and related 过程es) "is to enable programs and the broader community of the graduate faculty to reflect on and discuss the overall quality of the student learning experience and to identify strategies (curricular or co‐curricular) for program improvement." 部门s report on their graduate programs' attainment of these objectives in their assessment plans.
